Remote control of BC250D

I think that all of the replies I have read are "Partially" correct:

Arc250 pro will work with WinXP. Win7 and Win8.

If you are using a serial to USB cable:
The drivers for the USB/Serial cable will only work if you have the correct
driver for the Windows version. The older, "off" brand cables cannot be used for
Win8 because there is no updated driver past XP.  The Uniden cable has a Win7
driver which also works for Win8.

This will not be an issue if the computer you are using has a serial port.

Make sure that you have the scanner set for the same baud as the program
(115,000 8/N/1 should work for both) and plug in the cable to the computer and
scanner, turn the scanner on and then look at the hardware manager to insure
that there is a serial port assigned (same process for either cable type).  This
is important if the auto detect does not recognize the scanner.  **the scanner
must be turned on to be recognized!**

To test if you have a connection, try reading from the scanner to the software.
The scanner should beep and a lockout message appears on the screen.

If so, you are good to go with the remote control portion of the program.  If
not, ...well...at least I tried!

JK :)

No one here able to help with this one?

J.
How do I confirm that my radio is in remote mode?
I use MENU_3_5 and choose baud rate and PRESS _E
Should I then see something that indicates the radio is in remote mode?

No, there is no response or indication from the scanner display.
The software, like ARC 250 will either confirm or not confirm when "Auto
Detect" is attempted.
Or if Cloning to another scanner and it's successful.
A trial (30 day ) version of ARC 250 can be obtained here

Hi Clark, thanks for the reply. I have ARC250 but it's not detecting the
connection. I checked my serial ports and they are supposedly working
correctly however no joy.

It may be the cable but I've used it in the past with success although
it's been probably a few years since I've programmed the radio.

Any other thoughts, anyone?

At one time, I did have the jack break. I sent it to Uniden for a
successful  repair.
In the software, did you assign the correct com port or just let the
software try to find it ?
Just make sure the baud rate is the same for both scanner and software.

I believe the software is not compatible with Win 7 pr 8 but Win XP should
work.  Check on that possibility first.  that's my only suggestion.

I use ARC 250 Pro with no problems on my Windows 7 laptop and my Vista desktop.

Correct.  I have the Uniden software and it worked great in XP, but won’t work
in 7.

If you have come here to find out about the 250D you have come to the right
place! In fact the discussion of the BC-250D and how it works is the only
acceptable topic on this list. Any discussion about anything other than the
BC-250D is OFF TOPIC. I hope this is clear to all group members..
